Otumoetai College
The Otumoetai College, which is a co-educational, state day school, was established in 1965. It offers a broad based, quality education, encouraging academic and personal achievement. There are 1,475 students, 100 highly qualified teaching staff and 25 international students from Hong Kong , Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan and Thailand.
Academic Programme
Students begin in Year 9 at about 13 years of age completing studies in Year 13. A full range of courses are offered for external examinations, including School Certificate (Year 11), Sixth Form Certificate (Year 12), and University Bursary and Scholarship examinations (Year 13). These lead to tertiary polytechnic or university studies. A planning guide is available to help students select appropriate courses. Students may enrol at any time during the year.
Extra-Curricular Programme
Strong traditions exist in music, choir, drama and debating. Team sports and outdoor activities are an important part of both school life and leisure time. Sports facilities include a new multi-activity recreation centre, gymnasium, swimming pool and both netball and tennis courts.
